Mr. Baumann and I worked out in the yard this weekend and enjoyed the beautiful fall weekend. All the trees are bursting with color and it was a great time to be outside. Hopefully, you all got to enjoy the weekend as well. Time is certainly flying by, the end of the 1st quarter is Friday. Report cards go home on Nov. 2nd. WOW! I can't believe it. That's what happens when you are having fun. Here's what's going on in 3-BA.
Family Reading Night -
Family Reading Night should be a wonderful evening of reading for enjoyment. I will be participating by reading to guests in a classroom off the LMC. I picked a hilarious book called Sweet Tooth by Margie Palatini. Come join the fun!

Field Trip -
The third graders are going on their first field trip of the year. On Friday, November 9th, we will be going to see a musical production of "Great American Tall Tales." We will have to eat an early lunch, so don't forget to pack a snack to have later in the day. I will be needing 2 chaperones for the trip. Please e-mail me if you are interested in attending. If you have not returned your field trip permission form and money, please do so ASAP.
Conferences -
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up. Please make sure you return the conference form, so I can finalize my schedule. If there is something in particular you want to discuss about your child's progress, please drop me an e-mail so I can be prepared.
Halloween-
On Wednesday October 31st May Watts will be having the annual costume parade and fall room party. Please read the details on the event along with guidelines for costumes on the link below...

Diversity Week-
May Watts has set aside the week of November 12th for diversity week. During this week parents are encouraged to visit classrooms to speak with students about the culture and traditions that are celebrated in their homes. If you are interested in volunteering to speak to the class that would be fantastic! Here are the guidelines...
1) Keep the presentation to around 10 minutes or so
2) Make sure the material is age/school appropriate
3) The presentation may include religious reasons for the celebration, but please do not make religion the focus of the presentation
4) No art or craft project - a PowerPoint or short video with discussion would be great.
If the week of the 12th doesn't work for you, but you would still like to come and share your holiday, drop me an e-mail and we will make other arrangements.
Mrs. Badr has already volunteered to come and speak to the class about the holiday of Eid. I am looking forward to learning about this holiday.
PTA Coat Drive-
Everyone needs to have a warm coat to wear in the winter. Please consider donating.
Please join the May Watts PTA, Project S.H.A.R.E. (Students Helping and Respecting Everybody) and District 204 in a Coat Drive!
Fall is the time of year to clean out our closets. During the month of October, we are participating in a district-wide winter coat collection. Due to the growing need in our district, we are collecting new and gently-used, warm and clean coats of all sizes from preschool to high school. The coats will be distributed to families in need within our district in early November.
Please drop off your donations at May Watts in the large box located in the lobby. We will also be teaming up with Walk to School Day on November 2nd. We will have wagons at the designated corners to collect your donated items.
