Welcome to May Watts everyone! I am so excited for a wonderful new year of learning. The students seem to be adjusting to their new classroom and have survived the heat so far. However, the weather report for next week is hot, hot , hot! Please make sure your student is dressed in comfortable, light weight clothes and has a water bottle. It's gets very warm upstairs. Hopefully, when September settles in, so does some cooler weather. I look forward to seeing you all at ~

Curriculum Night - Wednesday September 2

Kindergarten through 2nd grades 6:30 - 7:00 p.m

Kindergarten through 5th grades 7:05 - 7:35 p.m.

Grades 3, 4, 5 may visit math teacher 7:40 - 7:50 p.m.

3rd grades through 5th grades 7:55 - 8:25 p.m

This night is for parents and guardians only

I will be updating my blog most Sunday afternoons - before or after the Bears games :) Please get in the habit of checking it weekly. All the information you and your child need for the week will be posted on the blog. So far, we have been spending our time labeling, organizing, practicing rules and introducing ourselves. This week 3-BA will start working on building our brains! The learning focus will be:

Reading: Continue to choose Just Right Books and set-up our reading spiral

Writing: Continue to launch the writer's workshop and set-up our writing notebooks

Math: Unit 1 - Review- number grids, time, money, number patterns

Social Studies: Begin unit on Communities. What is a community and how are they different?

Spelling : On Friday , the students will have their first spelling pretest
We are off to a great start. It is a tough adjustment for all of us, to go from the dog days of summer to the regiment of school. Make sure your student gets plenty of rest and eats a healthy breakfast. All is well in
